gobbling good cupcakes

Turkey cupcakeI have to admit that I often use food as decoration and these could be a perfect cupcake tier centerpiece. Here are a few easy steps:

  • Devil’s food cake mix (plus water, oil and eggs)
  • 2 cans chocolate frosting
  • I can/tube white icing
  • 1 tube brown decorating gel
  • Candy corn
  • Chocolate candy sprinkles

Steps:

  1. Bake at 350 and allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack before icing.
  2. Frost each cupcake with the chocolate frosting. Place the leftover frosting in a resealable bag and snip one corner.
  3. Pipe a 1-inch mound of the frosting on one side of the cupcake to resemble the head of the turkey. Make the eyes with a touch of white decorating icing and brown decorating gel. Finally add a candy corn for the beak.
  4. To make the feathers, pipe frosting on opposite sides to hold the candy corn and then put them in place upright.
  5. Next, sprinkle chocolate near the head and at the base of the feathers.
  6. When you’re ready to display, add candy corn at the base of the cupcake for feet.

Wonderful idea. I am going to make these but I am going to use the 50% less sugar food cake mix. Too cute1!
