DIY Halloween costumes: werewolf and werewolf hunter

DIY Halloween costumes are the way to go in my opinion. And these werewolf and werewolf hunter costumes thought up by my boys were so fun! My youngest thought it would be cool to be a werewolf for Halloween this year. And his brother jokingly said then he would be the werewolf hunter… well… as you can see the idea was born.

My mom is the genius behind Sew Jewell and she made both of these Halloween costumes, which my boys adored!

For the werewolf there was nothing in stores that wasn’t just downright creepy. All bloody and gruesome… I couldn’t stand it. So we purchased gray silver faux fur from Fabric.com and my mom made it into a slipover vest for his chest with Velcro on the sides. She also made him cuffs for his wrists. We paired her creations with some holey jeans and a button down shirt. A little silver hair paint and some gel… plus some glow in the dark teeth (minus the blood), and we were ready!

For the werewolf hunter, my oldest, that required a bit more work on Sew Jewell’s part. She picked up a pattern for an overcoat / duster (I’ll find out the brand and update the post), purchased black denim fabric from Fabric.com and created this fun 3/4 length jacket. She also monogrammed “WEREWOLF HUNTER” on the back just to be clear. {wink} Then I got to work and used Krylon Stainless Steel Spraypaint on one of his NERF guns and a plastic bullet belt.

They turned out so fun and got tons of comments as they roamed the neighborhood.

If you’re looking for a custom Halloween costume next year I encourage you convo Sew Jewell on Etsy. She’s amazing! And I’m not just saying that because she’s my mom. {grin}

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
