Every single year we host a Halloween party. When the kids were little it was all about the Halloween costumes. As they’ve gotten a bit older we’ve switched things up a bit and now every year we host a Halloween pumpkin carving party. But don’t worry, we still roast s’mores, sip hot cider and dip into the Halloween candy bowls early. {wink}
I’m giddy to share with you some of the Halloween party ideas that we’ll be sharing with our friends this year and balloons will be taking center stage!
First of all, I love using balloons for decorations. They’re economical, they can be made into a million different things and let’s face it… they’re fun! Over the next few days I’ll be sharing the full DIY on how to make balloon placecards, balloon bats and a super cute balloon pumpkin patch all with Balloon Time.
To start, I’m going to show you the overall Halloween party idea and set-up!
First, let’s talk table decorations. I love a pretty placemat to anchor the placesetting. These are a super simple, but darling, frame cut. Each guest also has a orange soda, plate and napkin… oh, and a spider ring hooked around the orange and black washi tape holding down their balloon placecard. One side of the balloon is the child’s name and the other is a fun jack-o-lantern face.
The centerpiece is simple, but a favorite that I use every Halloween. It’s just an ornate black cake plate topped with, and surrounded by, mini pumpkins and wire branches with orange beads and spiders. You can find similar garland at your local craft store.
As for the treats, well, there is never a shortage of those in my house. {wink} You may have guessed, but I love a bar service cart. You’ve likely seen a few on the blog. And for this party, it’s no exception. I have a sweet little black cart and I filled it with pumpkin donuts, sandwich cookies, suckers, popcorn… and these are just a few!
Besides decorating the table and making Halloween treats, I decorated the walls. One side of the room is a flurry of balloon bats. Later I’ll be sharing the full DIY and the template to make your own. Do you love them?
And the other side of the room is a pumpkin patch. I’ll be sharing the full DIY on these too!
In addition to all the decorations, we carved a few pumpkins! Afterall, it was a pumpkin carving party! But what do you do before scooping the goop? You need to plan your design! So before we headed outside with pitchforks… I mean carving knives in hand, we drew out our designs using easy vinyl templates.
I can’t wait to show you all the detailed DIY for each of the projects above. First up, the jack-o-lantern balloon placecards!
And they’re all crafted with Balloon Time. When crafting with balloons, you need and WANT your helium right in the craft room. It makes creating and testing your ideas before the party super easy. And by the way, it’s much more economical than running to the party store!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! More to come tomorrow!
