introducing woodland fairy

Written on February 19th, 2010 by Kim

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyplacesetting_kk

My mom used to tell the most beautiful woodland fairy stories to my nieces, who are now teenagers (stop growing girls!), vividly outlining the smallest details. One of my favorites was that the fairies were tiny and typically unseen unless you knew where to look. So when we started developing this fairy theme, I thought of those stories and how my nieces little faces would light up listening to my mom’s magical fairytale. As you browse this collection’s decor, know that the moss on the cake plate, the squirrel in the forest and the sparkles on the invitation are all tributes to my mom’s creativity. {Love you Mom!}

I chose hot pink and lime green polka dot decor for this collection not only because it’s modern and oh so popular, but because pink is very fairy, right. And the green of course is very woodland. I know… I’m a genius {smirk}. We then incorporated splashes of light pink and brown throughout the invitation and printables collection for the softer side of modern. And don’t you just love the plaid tree!

thecelebrationshoppe_fairycupcakeset

This is one view of the cupcake pick and wrapper set. There are four pick designs that could easily be mixed and matched with a few simple punches (2.5″ circle and 2″ scallop punches shown with foam adhesive squares for deminsion).

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyforestcupcake

This is a tight shot of the pick I lovingly call Woodland Forest.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyforestcupcake2

And this one is even closer. See the little squirrel and the bird houses?! This is the same image used on the invitations.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairypinkcupcake

I love how the fairies have sparkles on thier toes on this one.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyflowercupcake

The green gingham in this pick is also available in the straw slips.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairystrawslip

This is just one of the six straw slip designs: hot pink with green polka dots (like the cupcake wrappers), light pink sparkles (like the sky in the invite), green gingham, green and white polka dot, green with pink flowers (shown and same as napkin ring) and light green and light pink polka dots. Just write each little fairy’s name (thin Sharpie works best) on her slip and no worries about the little ones confusing cups… that is unless they can’t read yet. {wink} Plus, since our shatterproof cups can survive the dishwasher, you don’t want to ruin them by writing directly on them.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyplacecard

For the placecard and/or food marker, perfect for candy tables and buffets, we made the tallest tree extend past the typical rectangle just to be unique.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairynapkinring

And for the napkin ring, we paired the hot pink polka dot napkin with a lime green ring embellished with mini white and hot pink flowers.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairycellotoppers

On to the favors. We created both woodland forest scene cello bag toppers, and

thecelebrationshoppe_fairyfavortags

two favor tags: woodland forest scene and hot pink polka dot fairies.

thecelebrationshoppe_fairywandcookiecutter

Oh, and we can’t forget the fairy wand cookie cutter. A dash of sparkling crystal sprinkles and they will be irresistable, and the perfect treat for the cello bags.

As always we added a few touches here and there to the table for the shoot. The cake plate was embellished with strips of moss and the base was surrounded by a fern, moss and branch spring wreath. There were also small flower arrangements, sprigs of hot pink and white flowers, along the table. You can see them behind some of the cupcake images. And last but not least, a fairy herself perched on the edge of the cake plate. Okay, actually it’s a butterfly, but it’s all about the imagination, right?! {wink}

Make sure you hop on over to the shoppe for all the woodland fairy details. Have a great weekend everyone!

bugs & butterflies printables

I get a little clostrophobic this time of year. I’m originally from the South, where flowers are starting to pop out of the ground by now, while I sit here snowed in up to my ears… Oh well. Expanding our bugs & butterflies collection is my way of kicking the season off early in my winter wonderland.

Plus, I’m so excited to announce that Mom magazine will be featuring this collection in the 2Q 2010 issue. I can’t wait to see how their photo shoot goes on Monday and share images with you! While we wait, here are a few pics from ours.

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflycupcakeset

I’m really loving the mix of patterns in our new bugs & butterflies cupcake picks and cupcake wrappers. They go so well with the new mix of color plaid plates and napkins. By the way, when you buy this template you’ll receive all four designs so you can just mix and match away!

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflycupcakestripe

Here’s a close up of the cupcake design with the green and white stripe wrappers.

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflycupcakebeehivedot

And here’s a close up of the cupcake set made from the yellow beehive design.

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflystrawslip

We also created straw slips. This is just one of the four patterns you’ll receive with the template. Others include green and white polka dot with butterflies, yellow and green polka dots, and green and white stripes. Each has space to write the child’s name or you can just use the colors to mark the cups.

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflynapkinrings

And we tried out a few napkin rings for the Mom magazine photo shoot, settling on the green and white dragonfly version. But what this means for you is that you get all three with one template. {wink}

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflyplacecard

The other standard you’ll likely find with all of our future collections is the placecard/food and candy table markers. Are these not adorable?!

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflycellotopper2

Oh, and we can’t forget favors. We created bugs & butterflies cello bag toppers.

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflycellotopper

Here’s a closer look at the “Thanks for buzzing by!” design. They’re such a quick and easy way to wrap up yummy treats for your guests, and

thecelebrationshoppe_bugbutterflygoodytag

last but not least we created these fun “Thanks for buzzing by!” goody bag tags. You can find all of these in the bugs & butterflies collection later this week. As always, I hope we’ve helped inspire your next celebration!

introducing owl couple

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplebabyshower

I’m soooo excited about this one. I know some of you are saying… “she’s always excited.” But this one is truly special. You see, I have a beautiful cousin and two beautiful nieces who are pregnant right now and surely one of them will want their baby shower to be a hoot! (Come on girls, indulge me!)

Our new owl couple custom invitation, thank you and printable collection would be an excellent way to pad the nest of any mom-to-be. Here are a few of the details:

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplecupcake2

We decorated our cake plates with brown cardstock scallops to showcase our whimsy tree branch cupcake wrappers and owl couple cupcake picks.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplehootcupcake

Shown on our pink and brown table decor is the second cupcake pick design: our pink and white stripe ”Babies are a hoot!”

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplenestcupcake

We also made some adorable nest cupcakes (toasted coconut and candy malted milk eggs).

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcoupleplacecard

I love these printable placecards since the little owl ears stick up and give the typical flat card some dimension. And if you’re not having a sit down meal, they also work great as food labels on buffets or candy tables.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplebevwrapstrawslip

These beverage wrappers are also perfect to wrap hurricanes or even candles. And check out the super cute straw slips (also great for stemware). They come in four patterns (pink and white stripes, tree branch whimsy, pink polka dot, brown polka dot) and have plenty of space to write guest names.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplefavorwrap

And no need to fret over favors. These pink and white stripe owl couple candy bar favor wrappers are simple and a perfect treat.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplecellotopper2

Or, use our cello bag toppers to package up other candies or favors that guests can take with them.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplecookiecutter

You could even make owl cookies with our cookie cutters and place them in the cello bags. {wink}

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplenapkinring2

Just like the straw slips and candy bar favors, we used a pink and white stripe (same as the back of the invitation) pattern to embellish our owl couple napkin rings.

thecelebrationshoppe_owlcouplecraft

And last but not least, if you’re feeling crafty, make a few of these DIY plush owls to set around your decor. Read more about them, including our free pattern template, in our earlier post. As always, I hope you’re inspired because this baby shower could be a real hoot!

radio guest today!

Written on January 21st, 2010 by Kim

most_beth

I should have posted this days ago… darn dinosaur… and peapod… and oh, yes… owl (haven’t told you about that one yet) photo shoots. Anyway, the wonderful ladies over at Mommy on a Shoestring were kind enough to invite me to be a guest on today’s radio segment! The show starts at 2:00 EST/1:00 CST.

I’ll of course be chatting about birthday parties. And if I told you too late… sorry! You can catch it after the show on Toginet. Look to the right, under “Recent Shows” and play the 1-21-2010 show.

introducing dinosaur… roar!

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurbirthdayparty

So I do have a perfectly good reason for not blogging yesterday, we were shooting our new dinosaur birthday party theme. My youngest is a huge, did I say HUGE, dinosaur fan, so he’s already claimed this one for his next birthday party. {wink} On to the pics:

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurplacesetting2

I just adore the bright colors, blueberry dot and red dot plates, lime green and lemon dot napkins and of course the “Happy Birthday!” dinosaur cupcake picks with coordinating cupcake liners. And if you look closely you can see the yellow T-Rex in the background… my son has run off with it already. Hope we didn’t need any more shots!

thecelebrationshoppe_dinoroarcupcakeclose

Here’s an up-close shot of the “Roar!” cupcake pick. We used a scallop punch and a foam adhesive square to give it that 3-D effect. And don’t you just love the grass? I have to admit, we used a Cricut machine, but I bet you could do the same thing with a pair of scissors and a little patience.

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurcellotoppers

Recognize anything? Yep, one of the cello designs is part of our Valentine giveaway.

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurthankyoutag

Or, maybe you prefer to give slightly larger favors (e.g., stuffed dinosaurs, dino t-shirts) and need a red and white polka dot gable box with a dinosaur tag? {wink}

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurnapkinrings

And here’s our dino napkin ring.

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurstrawslipclose

Love, love, love the straw slips. This collection offers four “Roar!” designs and four blank designs in case you prefer to write each child’s name on the slip.

thecelebrationshoppe_dinosaurcookiecutters

Plus, we found this six-piece cookie cutter set including, among others, T-Rex, Pteradactyl and Brontosaurus.

thecelebrationshoppe_palmtreecupcake

Oh, and how can I forget to show you my palm tree cupcake… that got broken just before the shoot… it was a lot taller. {giggle} Oh well, you gotta roll with the punches and use carmel to put your Twix tree trunk back together. The leaves are actually gum drop candy rolled flat, cut with kitchen scissors to the shape of leaves and then slightly curled up at the edges. I attached them to the tree with green icing, same as the grass, and allowed it to dry before inserting it into the cupcake.

As always, hope you’re inspired and make sure you stop in the shoppe to see all the details!
