Roaring 20′s Party – Easy Deco Art Labels

The 20′s were full of design inspiration, from deco art to feathers to flappers… that era was glam. I’ve often thought it would be a very fun Halloween party theme!

So for my latest project with my new Cricut Explore, I created a fun deco art label and used the amazing writing feature to pen on the label “POP FIZZ CLINK.” I mean, if nothing, the 20′s was all about the end of prohibition! {wink}

Make your own Roaring 20′s party labels with your Cricut Explore in Design Space. You’ll need black cardstock (this is Coredinations Cardstock) and the metallic silver Cricut pen. And that fabulous black and silver stripe glitter cardstock, that’s American Crafts.

I also used my Cricut Explore to cut out some silver stars both as table confetti and as drink stirrers. All materials, including the Cricut machine, are available at JoAnn Craft Stores.

Just The WRITE Back To School Teacher Gift

Need a quick and highly appreciated back to school teacher gift? Hop over to Office Max ($5 off while supplies last!) and whip up this easy craft!

Just The Write Teacher Gift For Back To School | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Office Depot, but all my opinions and experiences are my own. You know I’d have it no other way! #pmedia #inspirestudents Disclosure

I’ve given many back to school teacher gifts over the years and yes, I’ve given my share of candies and sweets, but at the end of the day teachers need and want supplies for their class and for themselves. Educating a group of 20 – 30 kids needs organization!

So this year I whipped up a gift with Office Max. These are all things I use in my own office that help me to stay on top of my latest project and let’s face it… keep everything pretty in the process.

I have a few favorites by the way:

  • Sharpie Clear View Highlighters (because I color coordinate my “to do” lists once I write them out),
  • EXPO Neon Dry Erase Markers (because they work great on this clear clipboard for daily inspirational quotes… as well as on windows because my children steal them… which might be fun for teachers when they want to decorate their classrooms for a special lesson!), and
  • PaperMate Black Pearl Erasers (because I use a lot of mechanical pencils and I need a great eraser… yes… I do erase while sketching ideas {wink}

I was short on time (isn’t every mom!), but I still wanted it to be pretty so I punched out a paper tag, wrote a pun-intended note, used fun tape to attach all the “write” tools to the bottom of the clipboard… and my favorite part, added a honeycomb apple.

It’s just a mini round red honeycomb I picked up a few months back and I used the EXPO Neon green marker to draw a cute little leaf. And that stem tag is from my free back to school party collection. Make sure you download yours!

And as always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! Happy back to school!

Get Your Kids Talking With A New Board Game: Q’s Race to the Top

I don’t know about you, but I want my kids to be emotionally intelligent. Being great at math is wonderful. Being able to throw a perfect spiral football is great. But what about all the day to day life situations … I want my kids to have the social skills to be able to handle them.

Teach Emotional Intelligence | Q's Race To The Top

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and EQtainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia  #Qsracetothetop http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Sometimes I find it difficult to get my kids talking. You know, about how they “think about” and how they “should” react to social situations. It’s hard to sit down and have those talks so we as parents end up teaching as we go… hopefully by example… but also usually when something goes wrong. {wink}

Emotional Intelligence | Qs Race To The Top Game

Well, there is a new board game, Q’s Race to the Top. It’s fun… but more than that, it helps kids to talk about things that they might not normally open up to you about… or even think about: how to react in social situations.

Qs Race To The Top Board Game | Teaching Emotional Intelligence

I played this game with my boys. I actually found it more beneficial to play with them separately so that I got their true opinion. Not what the other brother thought. It was interesting.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is one of those critically important aspects that we pray our children leave the house with each day. We can’t be there to shield them, but we can help guide them to know how to respond in positive and negative social situations. The problem is, many things happen to them throughout the day that we didn’t even think to prepare them for.

Q's Race To The Top | Teach Emotional Intelligence

This is where Q’s Race to the Top comes in. Through a series of strategic questions you can get your kids (unaware) talking, sharing and giggling their way to the top of the board, all while you’re learning and teaching.

Watch The Video:

And now hop over and find out more about Q’s Race to the Top and all the amazing things a product like this can do to help children grow emotionally. I know I personally want my children to be able to handle what life throws at them!

And please consider participating in the kickstarter campaign too. It’s a great cause. The creator, a mom, not only wants us to be able to purchase this game for our children, but to be able to give it to less fortunate children in low income families.

Clipboards, Coffee, Back To School… Oh my!

So I’ve been talking back to school around here for weeks and the big day is next Thursday… only six shorts days away. Eeek!

DIY Vinyl Clipboard & Coffee Mug | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

And the only way I will survive is by being organized, being motivated… and oh yea… being awesome! {wink}

So to remind myself, I created a few easy vinyl designs for my favorite coffee  canister and a simple clear plastic clipboard, using my new Cricut Explore! I love… love… love that the Explore allows me to load my own designs for free!

DIY Vinyl Lettering Clipboard | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

You’ll need a few things in addition to the Explore. Let’s start with the clipboard:

  • clear clipboard
  • black vinyl
  • ruler
  • your own motivational text (or my art file)
  • sheet of white paper

Step 1 – Start a new project with the clipboard template.

Step 2 – Write within the editing tool. You can even use all your own fonts. (Or create in another program and upload.)

Step 3 – Follow the steps. Load your vinyl. Press cut.

Step 4 – Load a piece of ordinary white craft paper and cut your design a second time. Or, if you make your own image, print it from your computer. Place it under the clear clipboard as your guide for placing your vinyl.

DIY Vinyl Lettering for Coffee Canister | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

And now for the coffee canister. You’ll need:

  • coffee canister, preferably without a lot of contour
  • silver vinyl
  • your own motivational text (or my art file)

Step 1 – Start a new project with the canister template. Adjust the size to the dimensions of your coffee canister.

Step 2 – Write within the editing tool. You can even use all your own fonts. (Or create in another program and upload.)

Step 3 – Follow the steps. Load your vinyl. Press cut.

Step 4 - Carefully peel off each vinyl letter and place it on your container. Hand wash gently.

I’ll be sharing more pictures of those on my fabulous team, team #12, next week.

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! Oh… and dont’ forget… BE AWESOME!

Hawaiian Grilled Franks – A Pop Of Summer In Every Bite

I’m all about the grill in the summer and my kiddos are all about the Hebrew National beef frank hot dogs!  Those of you who stop in often know that my youngest has severe food allergies so I trust and appreciate Hebrew National’s pure ingredients to keep everyone in the family craving the all-American treat.

Hawaiian Hebrew National Franks | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

Compensation was provided by Hebrew National via Mode Media.  The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Hebrew National.

Although my kiddos prefer Hunt’s ketchup and Gilden’s Mustard above all other topping choices, I talked everyone into trying a new flavor combination: a Hawaiian inspired frank! Let me tell you… it was a HUGE hit!

I thought the blend of sweet and savory flavors would be the perfect summer bite. And I hate to toot my own horn and tell you I was right… but I was right. {wink} It’s a mouthful and you’ll enjoy every single chomp!

You’ll need:

  • Peaches (cut into slivers that can slide along your bun like the pickle in a Chicago Style frank)
  • Pineapple (cut into small chunks)
  • Red Onion (cut into slivers)
  • Mango Chutney (you can find it on your spice isle, or you can whip up your own from scratch with the recipe below)
  • Hebrew National franks (we like the Jumbo!)

Sweet & Savory Summer Food Pairing | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

Homemade Mango Chutney Recipe, you’ll need:

  • 2 1/2 cups diced mangos
  • 1 (1-inch) piece peeled fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 Scotch bonnet pepper, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • fresh ground black pepper

Simple instructions: Place all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 25 minutes until thick. Allow to cool.

Hawaiian Sweet & Savory Pairing | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

Go ahead, push the proverbial flavor envelope with my Hawaiian Hebrew National frank. You won’t be disappointed!

Hebrew National Recipes

With grilling season upon us, everyone is craving an all-American hot dog. What makes a kosher hot dog different? It’s all about what makes the cut… and what doesn’t {wink}. Hebrew National is choosy about what goes into their franks – only 100% pure kosher beef so you know what you’re getting and they taste great. No artificial flavors, colors, fillers or byproducts. Just the way I like to feed my family!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and yes… always celebrate!
