Roaring 20′s Party – Easy Deco Art Labels

The 20′s were full of design inspiration, from deco art to feathers to flappers… that era was glam. I’ve often thought it would be a very fun Halloween party theme!

So for my latest project with my new Cricut Explore, I created a fun deco art label and used the amazing writing feature to pen on the label “POP FIZZ CLINK.” I mean, if nothing, the 20′s was all about the end of prohibition! {wink}

Make your own Roaring 20′s party labels with your Cricut Explore in Design Space. You’ll need black cardstock (this is Coredinations Cardstock) and the metallic silver Cricut pen. And that fabulous black and silver stripe glitter cardstock, that’s American Crafts.

I also used my Cricut Explore to cut out some silver stars both as table confetti and as drink stirrers. All materials, including the Cricut machine, are available at JoAnn Craft Stores.

Quick No-Flake Glitter Straw Slips

Love things that sparkle? Me too!

No-Flake Glitter Straw Slips | Kim Byers,

Glitter can be hard to craft with. Especially when you’re crafting with things that might come in contact with food. You’re always nervous it’s going to flake off on whatever you’re working on.

Well I have the answer and it’s awesome! Darice makes a no-flake glitter washi tape and it’s available at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores. It’s beautiful and it truly doesn’t rub off!

I made these no-flake glitter straw slips in less than a minute! Just wrap around your straw and cut a triangle out of the end. Done!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

Easy Glitter Wine Glass Markers {Personalized For Pennies}

Having guests over for drinks? Need some glass markers? It seems I never have enough or they don’t match my party’s theme. So in my recent girls night in party post I shared a peek at these fun and simple glittered wine glass markers that only cost pennies to make.

I’ve shared this sparkle tape (aka glitter washi tape) from Darice before (also available at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores), and every time I use it I love it more. The glitter really shines and you could practically sand a table with it and no glitter would fall off. It’s perfect for embellishing gifts, crafting and oh yes, DIY party ideas! {grin}

To make these simple drink markers you’ll need:

Cut several lengths of tape, fold in half and trim out a triangle, peel off adhesive and stick to glass, write on your guest’s names. Done!

And here’s how darling the glitter drink markers can look on a pretty and delicious drink recipe. You don’t want to mix these glasses up. Trust me, you want every last drop of my Raspberry Acai Pineapple Champagne Cocktail.

Both this DIY glitter wine glass marker and this recipe will be perfect for New Year’s Eve too! {wink}

Watermelon Lemonade for Cinco De Mayo

With Cinco De Mayo only a few short weeks away I’m already testing drink recipes and planning snacks. This watermelon lemonade drink recipe is perfect for the kiddos (or you could spike it and make it a margarita!).

Watermelon Lemonade for Cinco De Mayo | Kim Byers,

  • 8 cups seedless watermelon (will take most of a five pound watermelon), cut into small cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (about 8 lemons)
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • garnish – watermelon cubes or small cookie cutter flowers (like me) plus lemon wheels

Yields 8 Servings

  1. Blend watermelon and lemon juice in food processor or blender until smooth. Strain the mixture through a wire sieve to remove any seeds, pulp or foam.
  2. Transfer to a glass pitcher.
  3. Bring 3 1/2 cups water and sugar to boil in medium saucepan over high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  4. Add mixture to pitcher with watermelon and lemon juice.
  5. Refrigerate until cold.
