princess cupcakes {video tutorial}

Have a little princess in your life? Planning a princess birthday party?

In my latest video craft tutorial with JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, as their Creativity Made Simple Craft Influencer for the month of May, I share how to make simple princess cupcakes with just a few supplies from the scrapbook section.

My favorite finds, which you’ll see in the video, were the crown embellishments from Martha Stewart Crafts and the chevron papers from a new DCWV birthday party pack.

banner ~ how to hang with no wall

How To Make A Banner Stand

So you know when you have a fun party planned, but there is no place to hang the banner… Oh yeah. With as many parties as I’ve hosted and styled I’ve been there a ton of times!

Sometimes there is no wall… or even a front of a table! {ugh}

So here’s what I suggest! Make a simple wooden stand to string your banner between.

Here’s what you’ll need to make a banner stand:

  • two small round wood bases,
  • pack of dowel rods,
  • white spray paint,
  • drill, and
  • wood glue

And here are the simple DIY steps:

  1. Drill a hole in the center of each base.
  2. Paint the two bases and two dowel rods.
  3. Place a bit of wood glue in the hole and insert the dowel rods. Let dry.

That’s it. Easy as one-two-three!

You can find the banner, beverage wrappers, napkin rings, dessert tags and more for my Pool Party Splash Bash in the shoppe. I’d love for you to stop in and browse!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

administrative assistant day

administrative-assistant-day-gifts

Hi everyone, it’s Bridget!

Last week I shared some of my great finds for  Teacher Appreciation week, but I can’t forget how much our fabulous Administrative Assistants do, too!

This week is Administrative Assistant week; the actual day is April 24th this year, but trust me, they will appreciate it any day. {grin}

If you’re like me and get a bit wrapped up in life and need a great, last-minute gift idea, I have a few fabulous ideas to share. Monogrammed paint cans from Fit, Crafty, Stylish & Happy are a super simple way to spice up a clear craft paint can and you can use scrapbook paper you already have on hand. Just fill them with any goodies that you like! (She made them for teachers, but I think they are perfect for all those other important people who help make our kids’ schools fantastic.)

Our mascot is an owl, so I was thrilled to find this adorable Owl treat bag from Lisa Storms. The sweet tag line could be anything you like, too.  If you prefer something a with a little more pizzazz, these DIY coasters from Mixed Method would be just the thing for your administrative assistant. I envision mine in our school colors! You could also kick up a sweet card with this fabulous Candy Apple card from BoBunny. What a great way to reuse those old button containers!

My favorite idea is this absolutely fabulous mini clipboard and magnet tutorial  at Blooming Where I’m Planted. What administrative assistant doesn’t use Post-It Notes?!

And last, but not least, I adore this sweet beaded vase, aka Bring on the Bling from Julie Mulligan at 1800Flowers.

As always, we hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! And Happy Administrative Assistant Appreciation Week!

Dusk Blue Pantone

Dusk Blue is a Pantone color for Spring and not only did it inspire my Monday morning hue… it also inspired Vern Yip when he designed a limited edition Diet Pepsi can! Isn’t it darling with the peacock!

These are all the things that will keep me focused and on task this jam packed Monday ~

  • cotton… I must be comfy! (Dusk Blue Infinity Scarf from Liquid Squid and Woven Cotton Bracelets from TNTees)
  • reminders to stay focused and work hard (Motivational Print from EEartstudio)
  • my tunes (Geeks Designer Line (GDL) Slim Hard Case for Apple iPod Touch 5 – S13 Pantone Dusk Blue)
  • my friends, colleagues and readers, all available at my fingertips through social media! (Social Media Icons from Nudge Media Design, available for digital download)
  • and last… but never least… my Diet Pepsi! (giving me just that extra bit of charge in the afternoons when my focus starts to wane)

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! Happy Monday everyone!

Diet Pepsi sponsored this post. But as those who stop in here often know, all opinions are my own. I would have it no other way!
