New Years drink service ideas

I love a clever idea! And this one isn’t only clever, it’s easy to execute and it’s inexpensive. LOVE! (By the way, I found this image on pinterest without an origin. I believe it’s from Martha Stewart. If you know differently please let me know so I can give proper credit.)

Partner the balloon backdrop idea with simple DIY drink stir stick ideas and you have a lovely New Year’s gathering beverage service: Gold glitter stars from Inspired Bride; Silver Pom Pom stir stick from Martha Stewart; Ribbon stir sticks from ReasonsToBreathe; Star stir sticks from Style Me Pretty.

black & white new year’s

I love masquerade parties at New Year’s Eve. A pretty dress + A pretty mask = A happy girl.

These are a few of the ideas I picked up at Pier 1 Imports. The masks drew me in and then the rest just came together. I think my absolute favorite item on this board is the black and white stripe wine/bottle stopper with a close second the chalkboard bottle marker. Both can be used throughout the year and will look fabulous in my kitchen!

frost bite & mistletoe cocktails

With so many holiday parties on the horizon (hosting and attending) it never hurts to have a few cocktail and mocktail recipes up my sleeve. These fabulous ideas are from Sierra Mist, a completely natural (made with real sugar and nothing artificial), beverage and natural mixer.

Frost Bite Cocktail ~ you’ll need: 3 oz. Sierra Mist Natural; 1 oz. Blue Curacao; 1 oz. Coconut Vodka; fresh mint; 1 oz. Pineapple juice; Fresh blueberries or pineapple garnishment (optional)

Directions: 1. In a shaker filled with ice, mix coconut vodka and pineapple juice 2. Add blue curacao, fresh mint and blueberries/pineapple (optional) 3. Shake all ingredients well and strain into a large glass filled with ice 4. Top with Sierra Mist Natural 5. Garnish with fresh blueberries/pineapple for a holiday twist (optional)

And for the kiddos (and designated drivers, which is usually me) Frost Bite Mocktail ~ you’ll need: 3 oz. Sierra Mist Natural; 2 oz. of White grape juice; Fresh blueberries; Fresh mint; 1 oz. Pineapple juice; And don’t forget the fruit garnish!

Directions: 1. In a shaker filled with ice, mix fresh lime juice and pineapple juice 2. Add white grape juice, mint and blueberries 3. Shake all ingredients well and strain into a large glass filled with ice 4. Top with Sierra Mist Natural 5. Garnish with fresh blueberries for a holiday twist (optional)

And another idea, and I love the name of this one, Meet Me At The Mist-letoe Martini ~ you’ll need: 2 oz. Sierra Mist Natural; 1 ½ oz. Raspberry Vodka; 3 Leaves fresh basil; ½ oz. Fresh lime juice; 1 oz. Blueberry juice

Directions: 1. In a glass, muddle two basil leaves and lime juice, then add to shaker filled with ice 2. Add raspberry vodka and blueberry juice to the shaker; shake well and strain into a martini glass 3. Top with Sierra Mist Natural 4. Garnish with a basil leaf for decoration (optional)

sparkle this New Year’s Eve

I’m still reeling from a fabulous Christmas with my family so when I sat down this morning and realized that Monday was here I of course immediately thought of next weekend. Just like every other Monday, right?! Well this coming weekend is a little bigger than most, because this Friday will be New Year’s Eve. I’m honestly astonished that the year is almost over, but over the top excited about what is coming in 2011.

But I digress… so although I’m not personally throwing a New Year’s Eve party, I thought this Pistachio Cake with White Chocolate Frosting from Better Homes and Gardens was just beautiful! Then when I went in search of other sparkling star table ideas I ran across this 3-D Star Streamer Centerpiece from Martha Stewart Weddings, which led me to the rest of these images. They are all so lovely and they’re just the beginning. I love how simple several of them are. Hop over to see all the details.
