I slept in this morning… something I never do. I’m a morning person, but I blame it on the triptophan turkey comma I was surely in. Or, maybe it was steam cleaning my carpets at 10 p.m. last night so we could put the Christmas tree up today… what?! Like you’re not excited! {wink}

gingerbread cookie coffee… mmm!

I’m a coffee lover… big time. For me, sipping a great cup of steaming coffee is relaxing. And honestly it’s often my “sweet” treat to myself. In my business I’m often surrounded by goodies and I’d be as big as a house if I indulged in all of them. So instead of nibbling, I sip. {wink}

And now that the holidays are here I’m revelling in the yummy flavors available from Duncan Donuts at my local grocery. See, when I want a cup of coffee while I pour {pun intended} over a new design or I’m in my studio styling a new craft idea, I might not be able to run out to the Duncan Donuts retail location (like 15 minutes away), but I do have time to stop at my kitchen coffee maker! YUM!

I say, tis the season to treat yourself, and you can find all these delish flavors at your local grocery store:

  • Pumpkin Spice: You’ll fall for this warm holiday flavor again and again.
  • Mocha Mint: Satisfy that chocolate craving with a warm cup of this minty winter treat.
  • Gingerbread Cookie: Catch this perfect combination of sugar and spice if you can.

 As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake (with a cup of coffee in your hand), create and celebrate! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

As you might expect, all opinions expressed here are my own. I would have it no other way. And a huge thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts® packaged coffee (available at your local grocery for anyone that wants to run right and grab some) for being my sponsor. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective.

share the joy with World Market

The holiday season, the season of giving, is officially here and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share that World Market is already in the spirit and wants you to be too! More details below about how you have a chance to win and give, but right now I want to share what the fabulous people at World Market let me do! {giddy}

There is a local charity here in Columbus called Buckeye Ranch. Among it’s many services, it offers residential housing to young children that are suffering from abuse, mental issues, and more. As a mom of two healthy happy little boys, my heart bleeds for these children. (By the way, if you’re in the central Ohio area, Buckeye Ranch has an adopt-a-family program this season and are in need of items big and small.)

So when World Market asked if I’d like to shop the store and give away my finds to a needy charity, I jumped at the chance. My boys and I are bakers. We love to get in the kitchen and let the flour fly. We have fun, but not only that we talk. And we giggle. We’re gigglers. But for many of these little ones, fond holiday memories are not recent, if ever at all.

So my youngest and I decided to create a basket of baking supplies for the children at Buckeye and Michelle, the administrator we worked with, assures me that our goodies will make it to several of the houses on the ranch. {Due to the nature of the charity we weren’t able to take photos of the actual gift giving, but I assure you there were smiles!}

These are just a few of the goodies we picked up! My guy had a blast browsing the isles and I knew if he loved the items the kids at the ranch would too. (I practically had to wrestle the big gumball tube away from him… I think Santa might have to bring one of those to our house!)

As much as he loved the gumballs, I loved these collapsable icing bottles. Genius!! I’m always tapping mine on the counter to get the icing to the tip… not anymore! Plus, these are great for small hands. We had to have several of these.

Oh, and the ornaments at World Market are beautiful… and sparkly! We picked this little glitterly Santa ornament up to embellish our gift basket, but we had to pick up another one… Santa in a space ship… {grin} for our own tree.

I also fell in love with this stripe mixing bowl and the Cookies for Santa platter. Those will be gracing my home this holiday season. So much cuteness in World Market! By the way, this picture doesn’t do our haul justice. There was just no way to get it all in one shot. {happy dance}

And what is a gift without a card?! So my little guy broke out the construction paper, scissors, glue and pencils. He made the sweetest card. Simple, but oh so sweet. I must have taken 40 pictures of him (no worries, I’ll save those for family) trying to cut out the perfect heart.

I hope you’re inspired to give this holiday season. I know I personally have the bug now!

And World Market wants to help get you in the spirit by hosting a Share The Joy Sweepstakes! Join them on facebook and enter to win the Share The Joy Sweepstakes now!

You can also connect with World Market on Pinterest, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram! Happy Holidays everyone!

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™, but all my opinions are my own. I’d have it no other way here in my little corner of the world!

Thanksgiving kid activity: thankful tree

My little ones NEED fun things to keep them busy on Thanksgiving Day because the rest of us congregate in the kitchen a lot. Not always cooking… more like nibbling… as my mom cooks.

So this year my boys are going to be decorating part of their own Thanksgiving kids table. First craft up, a Thankful Tree, but instead of cutting out or punching out leaf shapes, they will be rubbing real leaves with crayons and they will be collecting said leaves as well. The reason? I want this activity to take longer than 3 minutes. {grin}

Thanksgiving owl acorn craft + freebie

Hello everyone! Deanna of Mirabelle Creations here. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching I had the opportunity to style a kid’s Thanksgiving table for a local magazine and I whipped up these cute little acorn owls to go with my printable Thanksgiving party collection

These little owls are a fun craft to get you in the holiday mood. And, they’ll be welcomed visitors at your Thanksgiving kids’ table. Or better yet, let your guests make these DIY acorn owls so you can enjoy more time at the adult table. {Hoot! Hoot!}

I came up with the idea while my son was learning to ride his bike. I picked up several fallen acorns while he was practicing and at the time I wasn’t sure what I planned on doing with them, but since I knew my Thanksgiving kid’s table was going to incorporate owls, I decided to transform the acorns into little hoot owl crafts.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own acorn owls:

  • Acorns
  • Felt (in several colors)
  • Fine Tip Permanent Marker
  • Hole Punch
  • Scissors
  • Craft Glue
  • Yarn (optional)

Simple DIY steps:

  1. If not already secure, glue the tops of the acorns to the acorn. Several of the acorns I picked up had loose tops. Before beginning to assemble the owls, glue the tops to the acorn. Alternatively, you could remove the tops and set the acorns upside down, so that the bottom of the acorn becomes the top.
  2. Cut out two oval shaped pieces of felt for the wings.
  3. Using a hole punch, punch two white circles out of the felt for the eyes. If your hole punch does not punch all the way through the felt, use scissors to cut out the circles.
  4. Cut out a small felt triangle for the nose.
  5. Starting with the eye, glue felt circles onto acorn. Follow with the nose and wings.
  6. Using the fine tip permanent marker, make small eyeballs in the white circles.
  7. If you want you can glue the acorn owls onto yarn to make the Thankfulness leaves for the tree or for a napkin wrap.

And here’s a quick look at my finished Thanksgiving kid’s table. You can find all of these items and more in my shop, Mirabelle Creations, for only $12 for the complete collection. {Hoot!}

But, I’m also giving away my leaves for a Thankfulness Tree, Owl Napkin Rings, Owl Tags and Thanksgiving Owl Coloring Pages for FREE! You can download them from here:
