Need last minute Valentine mailbox ideas for your child’s class party? I made this owl Valentine mailbox in just minutes with my little guy out of a tissue box.

Easy “how to” make a Valentine mailbox supplies and instructions:

  • Tissue box (this one is a Kleenex box… love the pattern!)
  • Orange, yellow and blue scrapbook paper
  • glue
  • adhesive dots (if you want the eyes to appear raised)
  • 1″ circle punch
  • 2″ circle punch
  • optional: fringe scissors… or you can just cut the strips {grin}

And steps:

  1. Open and remove tissues before you decorate
  2. Punch two 2″ orange circles and two 1″ yellow circles
  3. Cut a large triangle for the nose
  4. Cut two large curved triangles for the ears and fringe
  5. Cut two fatter triangles for the wings. Curve and fringe the base.
  6. Attach ears, wings, nose, orange eye
  7. Add a foam adhesive dot to the orange eye and add the yellow center

Owl Kid Craft

Cutting tip: Cut one ear/one wing and use as the template for the other side. For the wings, remember to turn the paper if the front and back of our paper are not the same.

Cupid’s Valentine rice krispies treats

Valentine Rice Krispies Treats

I’m hosting a Valentine playdate this week for my Kindergartener and some of his friends. So this weekend I tested my idea for an easy Valentine snack, Cupid’s Arrow Rice Krispies Treats.

Valentine Treats

I think they turned out really well! And so did my boys. I caught them sneaking them just after I photographed them. I live with two comedians… {grin}

To make my heart Rice Krispies Treats with cupid arrow, you’ll need:

  • Rice Krispies treats prepared (still warm)
  • Heart cookie cutter
  • Butter (for your hands and the cookie cutter)
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Paper straws
  • Pink paper (triangle for tip and rectangle with triangle cut out of one end and fringed for feather)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Wax paper

And here are the super easy steps for making shaped Rice Krispies:

  1. Apply butter to your hands, your cookie cutter and a bit to your wax paper.
  2. Mold your Rice Krispies into the cookie cutter and set aside each heart.
  3. Once you’ve made all your hearts, pierce them with a lollipop stick.
  4. Cut a paper straw and slip it on each end of the lollipop stick.
  5. Cut paper as noted above, glue to straw ends

It’s that simple to make Cupid’s Arrow Rice Krispies Treats. Happy Monday and Valentine week everyone!

And as always I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

four FREE kid Valentine ideas

FREE Valentine Cello Toppers

Hi everyone! I’m Cris of Crissy’s Crafts and I am so excited to share some adorable kid Valentine ideas using Kim’s FREE Valentine Favor Cello Toppers.

We have Rawr-iffic dinosaur Valentines, tweet owl Valentines and buzzingly beautiful ladybug Valentines… something to please both boys and girls! It just makes me happy to give someone a cute little package that is handmade! Oh, and the best part, you can personalize your child’s name in the file before printing!

Dinosaur-Valentine-Idea

Let’s start with the Rawr-iffic dinosaur Valentine. To package this treat you will need scrapbook paper (optional), FREE Dinosaur Valentine treat topper, dinosaur favors (I found these little guys at Wal-Mart), clear 4″ cello bags, scissors and a stapler. Or, you can use hot glue to seal.

If you use the scrapbook paper inside the clear bags, make sure you cut the scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the bag. Place the dinosaurs inside and staple to attach together on each side of the treat bag topper.

Owl kid valentine ideas

These Valentines are a HOOT! For the owl Valentine, you can pack the treat just like I did for the dinosaur Valentines, OR just tape the treat on the FREE Owl Valentine Cello Topper using double sided tape. I found the cute Owl lollipops at the Dollar Tree!! So cute, right?

Ladybug Valentine Idea

And for the little ladybug Valentines I decided to get creative in the kitchen. I love making thing for friends and family! This sweet ladybug pretzel is super easy to make and your kids can help! I found the tutorial on My Crunchy Life. Once the chocolate is completely hardened you can pack these cuties the same way as the dinosaur Valentines.

There you have it! Three free printable kid Valentine ideas and three different ways to give that special someone a little handmade love! Oh, but there are four in the set… yep there are robot valentines too! Download your free Valentines now and enjoy!

DIY Valentine bear mailbox

DIY kid Valentine bear mailbox

Need Valentine mailbox ideas for your child’s class party? Want it to be a fun kid craft… instead of a mommy craft? My little guy made his Valentine mailbox today out of a tissue box. He chose to make a bear. His nickname is bear… and fittingly he was wearing his “bearly asleep” pjs. Not planned I promise! He just loves them. {grin}

Super easy how to make a Valentine mailbox supplies and instructions:

  • Tissue box
  • 2 tones of brown cardstock
  • black cardstock
  • brown pom for tail
  • glue
  • adhesive dots (if you want the nose to appear raised)
  • 1″ circle punch
  • 2″ circle punch

And steps:

  1. Cut a large circle for the head out of brown cardstock. We just used a bowl as a template. I know… super crafty. {smirk}
  2. Punch two small light brown 1″ circles for the ears and three black for the eyes and nose
  3. Punch one light brown 2″ circle for the nose
  4. Attach ears and eyes with glue
  5. Attach nose with adhesive dots for raised effect, or just glue. Cute both ways.
  6. Attach face and tail with a dot or two of hot glue.

Kid Valentine Ideas

Need an idea for kids Valentines?!

Kid Valentine Ideas

My son whipped this easy monster Valentine idea up this weekend using just a few things around my craft room:

  • laser printer paper folded in fours, like a small card,
  • Elmer’s Glue to glue down the edges,
  • Crayola crayons to color his design, and
  • last but not least plastic rolly eyes. And yes, that is the technical term on the package. {smirk}

I, as his mom, and fellow crafter, thought it was adorable. And if you see either one of his grandmothers… don’t tell them because he plans on giving one to each of them. {grin}
