modern sleepover

When I create an inspiration board, it’s usually one thing that inspires the rest. This time it was these adorable slipper cookies from Family Fun magazine. I just love this simple and yummy (donut hole covered in coconut), yet oh so pretty idea.

From there I thought about my nieces, now teenagers, and what would appeal to them and their friends. My oldest niece recently celebrated her sweet sixteen in hot pink and black bliss, so I’m very confident she will approve of my choices:

The slippers led me down the sleepover path, but these ideas could lend themselves easily to a modern bridal or baby shower too. As always, I hope you’re inspired.

busy bee birthday

Not all birthday parties have to be bright primary colors, especially before your little one is old enough to have his/her own opinion about the theme and decor {wink}. So if you have a very busy bee running (or crawling) around your house, consider some of these fabulous ideas:

As always, I hope you’re inspired!

under the big top

I’m considering a few new birthday party collection themes and one I’ve thought about is a bright and bold circus with roaring lions and games galore. As usual I took to the web to see what I could find. I quickly ran across two very familiar party blogs with super fun inspiration.

The first set of images, above, is from Kara’s Party Ideas and it is an actual party that she hosted for her two little guys this past summer. You have to jump over there to see all the details. I admit it is amazing; she must have spent months planning.

And these are from mom Michelle Thornton (via the Hostess Blog). I love the color and yet the simplicity. The party was held in a park so the level of detail that Kara went to wasn’t possible (set-up and control would be a nightmare away from your own backyard), but this mom still thought of everything. Make sure and check out the original post for more images, ideas and resources.

a movie is the ticket

Tweens and teens are the hardest to plan birthday parties for. They’re too old for themes and they’re too cool for anything organized. That said, everyone loves a good movie night.

If you have a in-home theater, create a buffet of movie treats including popcorn, sodas and assorted chocolate bars and let them be. And if you don’t, no worries. You can host pre-movie treats at your house and then shuttle the kids off to the theater, most even have private event facilities you can rent.

Or, simply invite the girls over for a night in. All you’ll need to do is add a cocktail bar to the movie treats buffett and you can call it a success.

And don’t you just love this cake?! It’s from a 2005 Better Homes and Gardens “kid’s parties” issue and I fell in love with it. My oldest was only one at the time, but I’ve saved it all these years knowing that someday I’ll get to make it.

Oh, and of course the movie night invitation and decor are available in the shoppe. {wink} Enjoy!

Yesterday I shared an inspiration board for our soon-to-be woodland fairy birthday party collection {excited giggle} and today I’m sharing another soon-to-be. Within the next few weeks we’re going to introduce a bright and bold dinosaur birthday party collection. I can tell you my three year old, a true dinosaur enthusiast, is already making plans (literally) for his birthday in June.

These are a few items from my inspiration board:

Enjoy and I’ll share our new creations soon!
