Hi everyone! My name is Bridget. I’m Kim’s creative assistant at the shoppe and I’m so excited to expand my role and start contributing to the blog from time to time. We plan that I’ll share a bit about what is inspiring us and I’ll manage some of the features, so start submitting your craft, baking and party ideas! We want to see them!

This morning I thought I would start by sharing a bit about myself. I’m a mom of three (one boy and two girls). My education and career were in pharmacy, but once my oldest was born I decided I really wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. And if you’re wondering what brought me to The Celebration Shoppe, Kim and I met at our children’s preschool several years ago and when Kim shared with me that she was looking for a creative soul to add to the team, I told her I was her girl!

Okay, enough about me. For my first contributing post (yay!), I’m sharing some of the fun and fabulous ideas that have inspired my youngest daughter’s birthday party planning this year. You see, she’s pleading for a cowgirl party!

  • Ruffled Dessert Table Skirt and Rope Art from Jen at Peas and Thank You’s
  • This adorable DIY horse for a fun lasso game from Restless Risa
  • Cactus Cupcakes at the Cupcake Gallery (I can’t resist a cute cupcake!)
  • Simple bandana napkin rings from Country Living  (I’m definitely going to try these!)
  • And my personal favorite, is the hobo stick favor from Three Pixie Lane; a simple goody filled bandana tied to a stick

robot birthday party ideas

I shared our new robot invitation and printable partyware design (invitation and thank yous in the shoppe) a few weeks ago and mentioned that this is the theme my oldest has chosen for this year’s big bash. So this morning I thought I would share a few of the things that have inspired me during the planning process.

deep blue sea party ideas

We just added several new printables (cupcake picks, dessert tags, beverage wrappers, and more), custom cookies (crab, starfish, and angel fish) and a monogrammed t-shirt to our Deep Blue Sea collection so this party idea has been on the brain a bit lately. lunch boxes with promise

As I mentioned on Monday (when I posted our FREE lunch box notes!), I’ve been obsessing a bit about my oldest heading off to first grade (and away from me for the entire day… for the first time since I left my corporate life). Lunch is a big part of that stress. He’s such a picky eater and I don’t want to fill his lunch box with cookies… I may have to, but I’m going on record that I don’t want to.

So, while I’ve been stressing and scouring the net for food ideas, I’ve come across some pretty cool lunch box ideas.

  1. He hates for his food to touch so this divider lunch box from Pottery Barn Kids would be a great option.
  2. He would love to doodle and draw on these frame napkins from Perpetual Kid, and it gives him something to do if lunch time gets boring… or more likely… he doesn’t want to eat what I pack him {stressed again}.
  3. He loves planes and I love the retro, so this linen box from The Land of Nod has promise. (It also comes in a green space rocket and other choices for girls!)
  4. He really loves camoflage right now and I love the monogram and the sturdy sides since he has to put his lunch in a huge bin with all the other kid lunches. So this bag from Pottery Barn Kids is a strong contender. Can you imagine the kid who brings his in a paper bag like I did?! It will be flat!

summer camp must haves

With summer drawing near I’ve been thinking about summer activities and away camps. Honestly I’m not ready for away camp… I’m having a hard time with my oldest going to full day school next year… I know, I know. I don’t have to tell you moms how hard it is to let go.

Anyway, it still got me to thinking about all the fabulous things I would get them “IF” I were sending them away this year, and here are a few things that made my short list:

  • Pottery Barn Kids toiletry bags - how cool is this?! Let’s face it, the cabins don’t often have bathrooms/showers in them. You have to walk a few hundred yards and this keeps your shampoo, toothbrush, towel, etc. handy!  Plus, you can have it personalized so there is no question who it belongs to.
  • Mabel’s Labels’ Camp Edition - I’m all for labeling everything, even toothbrushes! {wink}
  • Personalization Mall “road trip” lap desk - this would be perfect for my kiddos to write letters home on. I know I will personally want a letter every single day… not that I’ll get it, but at least this little lap desk makes one less excuse they can give me.
  • Pottery Barn hooded beach towels - my oldest has a ton of curly hair so the hood would be super helpful.
  • Carson HU-530 Hawk kid bonoculars on Amazon – you can’t bird watch without them.
  • Tiny Prints summer camp personalized journal – and if my kiddos don’t write every day, maybe they’ll at least write down a little about their daily adventures so I can catch up when they get back home.
