You’ve got to love these treats for a fabulous movie star birthday party! I’m impressed with the idea of the hand-prints in cookie dough. Genius from Family Fun magazine!

And the popcorn bag brownies from Bakerella are oh so yummy! I think I might just make them with the boys minus the formal party. {wink}

There is nothing better than sugaring up your friends’ kids at a birthday party and sending them home… right?! {giggle} No really, I just felt inspired by the lollipop recently. It’s colorful and it can be very creative. Here are just a few lollipop inspired ideas from around the web:

nesting centerpieces

I heard the first tweets of Spring a few days ago and caught a glimpse of a mommy bird building her nest in one of our bird houses… little twigs scattered all over the ground below. (My oldest was concerned that she was killing dad’s tree. I had to assure him it would be fine…)

This wonder of nature made me think of all the beautiful ways we use the bird nests in event planning and decorating, so I thought I would round up a few of my favorites.

The centerpiece and placesetting ensemble is from Martha Stewart Weddings… love it!! And it’s perfect for our owl couple baby shower collection.

The next two are from William-Sonoma. I just thought the bell glass idea was very unique, and then who could resist chocolate truffles in the shape of baby bird eggs. I mean, really! They’ve carried them for years and I drool over them every season. {wink}

butterfly birthday

I have a serious case of Spring fever and the only thing I could think of to curb a very strong desire to book a flight to a tropical island was to blog about a beautiful Spring birthday party.  I envision a backyard soiree complete with 75 degree weather, cucumber sandwiches, pretty Spring colored dresses and giggling girls.

  Oh, I’m so glad it’s finally March. Happy Tuesday everyone!

“S” is for snowman

letter-s-snowman-snack

My oldest is in Pre-K 4 this year and every week they work on a new letter of the alphabet. And along with writing the letter and learning pronunciation, there is also a letter snack. Can you guess who is responsible this week? You got it, us.

And if it isn’t obvious by now, our letter of the week is “S” and we decided to make donut snowmen inspired by Very Heatherly (who I blogged about last year with our Snow Day collection). The only difference is that I used orange Starburst candies (melted in the microwave for 8 seconds and divided in half) instead of fondant, and I attached them with white icing (not easy to get it to stick to the powder).

And as you can see on the back of the letter S tags, I couldn’t let my little guy off without putting in a little extra effort. (Not to worry, he was paid in M&Ms… I know… learning is its own reward!) He wrote the word “Snow” on the back of each tag for his classmates.

Have a great weekend everyone!
