pink & brown tablescape

We often get calls from customers asking about items in photos that we used for staging, but don’t sell in the shoppe,  so I’m going to start doing a better job of giving you all the details. We staged our new baby bump shower a few weeks ago. Most of the items we offer in our decor, but here are the few things we don’t:

Placemats - these are just 12×12 sheets of DCWV (Die Cuts With A View) Glitter Pink-Brown Flower Dots cardstock from the craft store.

Candy vase - I was browsing the candy store (as I do too often) and ran across these strawberry flavored malted milk balls. Well after I thought “yummy!” I thought how adorable they could be in the new baby bump tablescape. So long story short, I melted down some pink chocolate, covered a few pretzel rods, sprinkled them with pink crystals (available in the shoppe) and settled them into a ribbon embellished short vase of strawberry flavored malted milk balls.

Tulle napkin ring - I was browsing for inspiration for our new black & yellow buzz theme and ran across a table setting that used a black chrysanthemum as a napkin ring. It was really beautiful so I thought about trying to find one at the craft store. I wasn’t in luck so I decided to make my own version for baby bump using pink tulle. To make these yourself you’ll need pink glitter tulle and florist wire. And here are the easy step-by-steps:

  1. Cut 12 4×4″ squares of tulle and stack them.
  2. Fold the group like an accordian.
  3. Pinch them in the center and wrap them with a small piece of florist wire.
  4. Trim the ends as shown.
  5. Cut a straight line between each fold to the florist wire separating the folds into individual petals.
  6. Carefully separate the individual petals and pull upward to give the flower fullness.

It takes a little patience, but it’s worth it… don’t you think. {wink}

We have been feverishly working on a new design that I lovingly call “Buzz.” It will be beautiful for all the “B” occasions: baby shower, bridal shower, birthday, bachelorette and even brunch! {I think I have a new favorite girlfriend gathering collection!} As you can see, the invitation will be a combination of black and white damask and yellow polka dots, with a fun little bumble bee near the bottom. It will have your guests buzzing with anticipation! {wink}

simply pink party

Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy had a beautiful pink party for her little girl this summer. One of my personal favorites is the idea of adding height to your decor with non-helium balloons hung from the ceiling on clear fishing line. She combined hers with paper lanterns and embellished her chandelier with fun pink beads.

And not only was the decor pink, so was the food. Check out this fun treat table!

And wouldn’t you know it, her fun ideas go perfectly with our simply pink invitation and decor {wink}.

Even if you’re not planning a pink birthday party or baby shower, make sure and take a trip over to the Pleated Poppy and read her post. It’s refreshingly honest on how sometimes all of our party planning can go awry and drive us crazy to eventually turn out fine in the end because we are determined to give our little ones, family and girlfriends all we have to make their special day the best we can. Good job Lindsey!

bonjour bridal shower

Written on August 5th, 2009 by Kim

Black is in for bridal showers… elegant, always beautiful and it goes with everything! The trend is definately to partner it with a vibrant pink. For just such an ocassion we recently launched our “divine,” “blossoms,” and “bubbly” invitations and decor. And for additional inspiration, here are a few “real” party pics we found at The Hostess Blog.

As you can see, beautiful patterns of card stock from the craft store can be your best friend when planning a party. They used this demask pattern for thier placemats. What a smart and inexpensive way to set a beautiful table.

Their inspiration was not only the color, but the Eiffel Tower, hence the bonjour message on the paper lanterns over the table. So cute!

The part I loved the most was the favor idea. The bride’s mother passed away from cancer a few years ago so instead of a favor the hostesses made a donation to the Susan G Komen foundation.  They created donation cards and wrapped them in tulle so that each guest could remember the bride’s mother was there in spirit and watching down from heaven.

Great work ladies!

blue & brown bride inspiration

I was browsing around and found the most beautiful and smart bridal shower cake/cupcake idea from Cocoa & Fig. It goes beautifully with our bridal shower invitation and decor, but the thing I love most about this idea is that with a few modifications a novice could pull it off.

Fondant is really not as scary as you might think; give it a whirl! You can buy pre-made fondant at any craft store with a baking section and it tints easily with gel food coloring. As for the shapes, the simple ones are done using a cookie cutter. {wink} But if you’re just too terrified, replace the top tier with flowers and make your bride silhouette and other designs out of craft paper, embellishments and ribbon.

Be inspired, be creative and have fun with your next celebration!
