sweet treat candy table

amyatlas_candytableSometimes we just need a little inspiration to pull our parties together and this beautiful candy table from Amy Atlas is a wonderful idea for our sweet treats birthday party theme. With a little bit of prep and a visit to a candy shop anyone can pull off this beautiful table.

Our sweet treats décor is multi-color so my plan of attack would be to go first to a craft store in search of some fun ribbon (grosgrain shown) and craft paper that could be used for labels on the candy jars, as well as maybe to make some fun party hats.

My next visit would be to a candy shop… where I could spend hours! For the jars, you likely have exactly what you need in your own home… glass vases, bowls, containers… once embellished you won’t remember what you were using them for.

And as for the banner, this could be easily created using ribbon, craft paper and a glue stick. Or, you could get fancy with ribbon, stiff fabic and a sewing machine, either way it’s an easy craft.

Have a wonderful celebration. Oh, and don’t forget to have a beautifully embellished box of wipes nearby  if your guests are under the age of 6! {wink}

sweet treats centerpiece

candycenterpiece_cathome1We’re always looking for great ideas, especially if they’re simple. This one comes to us from a fellow planner, Chris from Celebrations at Home, who shared a few of our baby shower ideas {giggle}. Well of course we had to peruse her site and when we found this fun idea we just had to share it!

Notice not only the adorable lollipops, but the large candies in the background. Those appear to be Styrofoam on dowels that are wrapped in colored cellophane. Very smart! And what about the colorful pipe cleaner curly Q fillers. A centerpiece that would go great with our ”sweet treats too” or “movie night” themes.

lollipopcenterpiece_realsimplemagCenterpieces don’t have to be elaborate to be beautiful and fun. Step outside of the norm and create something whimsical like this idea from Real Simple Magazine. I mean what kid wouldn’t be excited about sitting down in front of bunch of brightly colored lollipops.

The buckets you can likely find at any craft store. As for the lollipops, go to a candy shop or even check out a Cracker Barrel restaurant. They have a great assortment of unusual candies and suckers.

This idea would be a great addition to our sweet treats and sweet treat too themes.

no fuss favors

No fuss favorEvery mom stresses about the party favor. I admit that I’ve done some fairly elaborate things, but only when the party was with my very best girlfriends and their children. And some of you even have to suffer through school policies where your child’s entire class has to be invited; that isn’t always economical. Remember, the birthday is about your child, don’t spend your entire budget on the guests.

Take it from me, do what makes you feel comfortable. For instance, this is a very simple, yet attractive favor for a sweet’s birthday party. The hardest part will be spelling all the kid’s names correctly.
