To prepare for a friendly competition of Pinecone Tossing, you’ll need some pinecones, our free printable point value signs taped onto long barbecue skewers and a few buckets. We also spray painted one pinecone gold, and let players know that the golden pinecone is worth double the points!

This game can be adapted for indoor or outdoor play. Keep it tame for the classroom or living room by lining buckets up and having kids take turns tossing. Head outside and lengthen the distance pinecones need to be tossed — then even the adults will enjoy getting involved. (Just how strong is Superdad’s arm?) If you’re enjoying a white Christmas then play this same game with snow balls instead!

easy DIY fabric Christmas goodie bags

Hi everyone! I whipped up a few fabric goodie bag designs for Christmas gift giving.

Easy DIY Fabric Goodie Bags | TheCelebrationShoppe.com

I’m sharing one here and I’m thrilled to be over at Amy’s blog, Positively Splendid, as part of her Swell Noel, sharing a second tutorial!

So let’s get crafty and make a few goodie bags. They’re easy to make, easy to personalize and fun to share!

How to make Santa Stache Goodie Bags | TheCelebrationShoppe.com

First you’ll need to make a Snowflake Cork Stamp. Grab a wine cork, Sharpie and Xacto knife. Draw a basic snowflake with the Sharpie, trim it out with the Xacto knife and instant stamp!

Now that you have your snowflake, you’ll also need:

  • Red canvas (my bags are 4 1/2″ x 6″ each and my fabric is from JoAnn)
  • White thread
  • Sewing machine (I used a simple blanket stitch)
  • White and blue fabric paint
  • Letter stamps (S-N-O-W-B-A-L-L-S)
  • Pinking shears
  • Fine paint brush
  • White gumballs (I got mine from Candy Gallaxy)

And now for the easy DIY steps:

  1. Cut red canvas in 4.5″ x 6″ pieces, you’ll need two per bag.
  2. Using a fine paint brush, lightly paint each stamp and apply design to fabric.
  3. Allow paint to dry completely.
  4. Set sewing machine to blanket stitch and sew three edges.
  5. Trim off the top of each bag with pinking shears.
  6. Fill with candy. I used large white gumballs… SNOW BALLS. {wink}

Wanna know how I made the Santa Stache Stamp and bag in the “materials” picture above? Hop over to my post at Positively Splendid and check out the full tutorial!

As always, hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

60th birthday party in pink and gold watercolors

A lovely pink and gold happy 60th birthday party!

Pink and Gold 60th Birthday Party

Hi everyone!  It’s Deanna from Mirabelle Creations and I’m excited to be here at The Celebration Shoppe sharing a recent pink, white and gold Watercolor Party I hosted in honor of my mom’s 60th birthday.

Pink and Gold 60th Birthday Party

Although a watercolor theme is a common theme for kids’ art parties, it’s also a great party theme for a more sophisticated party. This pink watercolor theme lends a fresh, ethereal feel.  I love the versatility of a watercolor party theme because it works well for adult birthday parties, kid birthday parties, weddings, showers, or even dinner parties.

Pink and Gold Birthday Party Cake

The pink watercolor décor was paired with touches of gold for this 60th birthday dinner.  Some of the elements that were incorporated into the party included: a Watercolor Printable Party Collection, a Dip Dyed Ruffled Crepe Paper Garland, pink and gold mini tissue fringe cake topper, fudge topped with gold sprinkles, and gold heart cupcake toppers.  Fresh flowers and a pink and gold tablescape completed the party set up.
