banner ~ how to hang with no wall

How To Make A Banner Stand

So you know when you have a fun party planned, but there is no place to hang the banner… Oh yeah. With as many parties as I’ve hosted and styled I’ve been there a ton of times!

Sometimes there is no wall… or even a front of a table! {ugh}

So here’s what I suggest! Make a simple wooden stand to string your banner between.

Here’s what you’ll need to make a banner stand:

  • two small round wood bases,
  • pack of dowel rods,
  • white spray paint,
  • drill, and
  • wood glue

And here are the simple DIY steps:

  1. Drill a hole in the center of each base.
  2. Paint the two bases and two dowel rods.
  3. Place a bit of wood glue in the hole and insert the dowel rods. Let dry.

That’s it. Easy as one-two-three!

You can find the banner, beverage wrappers, napkin rings, dessert tags and more for my Pool Party Splash Bash in the shoppe. I’d love for you to stop in and browse!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

healthy lunches

fun food ideas for healthy lunches

Hey everyone, it’s Bridget today!

I’ve got healthy lunches on the brain since my Kindergartener just had her first lunch at school today, normally she’s just half-day. {sniff}

Daily packing with healthy lunch recipes can be a challenge with three kids; and this time of year I feel almost out of ideas and I’m looking for some fresh inspiration for what to pack for lunch.

Kids eat better when they think it’s fun (even if it’s a green veggie!). And what kid doesn’t love to play with their food?! So I rounded up nine fabulous lunch box finds to share:

  • Tasty Bugs via Nestle Kitchens are sure to have your kiddo bugging out when he opens his lunch box {smirk}
  • String Cheese Pencils via Moneywise Moms are just “write” for any lunch box! I know, but I’m on a roll!
  • Sick of sandwiches? Tortellini Salad via Parents is just one a long list of alternate lunch box ideas
  • Last Day of School lunch via Bento-logy is a charming way to make an impression
  • Owl Cookie Cutter sandwich via Cookie Cutter lunches will make any lunch a hoot! OK! I promise I’ll stop now

Sometimes a lunch box just needs a key snack or treat to make it exciting:

 And since you’ve spent the time and energy to make a fun and healthy kid’s lunch, don’t forget to add a little note to your child’s lunch box. We gave these away at the beginning of the school year, but they’re great for the end of the year too!

Want to know how to make a photo booth?

I love having photo booths at my parties for many reasons. The obvious reason is to capture those precious memories, right! Well, why not do it with style. It doesnt’ have to be hard or a major production.

make a photo booth

Photo booths allow your guests to get silly PLUS it gives them a great backdrop so you don’t have a messy kitchen or a million people holding cake as your backdrop in all your photographs!

photo booth

Here are the supplies I use to make my photo booths. And the best part, mine are mobile! A party indoors, you’re all set… party outdoors… you’re all set!

make a photo booth

I start with:

  • Blank white canvas (I use a 4×6 foot canvas)
  • Coordinating fabric (you’ll need at least a yard and a half of fabric, but check the width to make sure it will cover)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Optional: canvas stand available at craft stores

Then I embellish my canvas with:

  • Pennant banner on ribbon or twine,
  • or other party elements like crepe paper twists

photo props for photo booth

Finally, I create photo props for the guests to hold. I like to hot glue them to wooden dowels and put them in a bucket or vase full of sand so that they stay upright and ready for the next guest.

Making a DIY photo booth is just that easy!

These are my party collections that have designed photo props, but we can create them for any collection. Just ask!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
