banner ~ how to hang with no wall

How To Make A Banner Stand

So you know when you have a fun party planned, but there is no place to hang the banner… Oh yeah. With as many parties as I’ve hosted and styled I’ve been there a ton of times!

Sometimes there is no wall… or even a front of a table! {ugh}

So here’s what I suggest! Make a simple wooden stand to string your banner between.

Here’s what you’ll need to make a banner stand:

  • two small round wood bases,
  • pack of dowel rods,
  • white spray paint,
  • drill, and
  • wood glue

And here are the simple DIY steps:

  1. Drill a hole in the center of each base.
  2. Paint the two bases and two dowel rods.
  3. Place a bit of wood glue in the hole and insert the dowel rods. Let dry.

That’s it. Easy as one-two-three!

You can find the banner, beverage wrappers, napkin rings, dessert tags and more for my Pool Party Splash Bash in the shoppe. I’d love for you to stop in and browse!

As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

These are some of my favorite deep blue sea birthday party ideas from around the web:

We just added several new printables (cupcake picks, dessert tags, beverage wrappers, and more), custom cookies (crab, starfish, and angel fish) and a monogrammed t-shirt to our Deep Blue Sea collection so this party idea has been on the brain a bit lately. end summer with a splash, II

I shared some pictures of my new Splash Bash and Deep Blue Sea collections almost a week ago, and this morning I’m showing tons more. With summer closing in on us, why not go out with a splash?!

It’s as simple as packing a picnic lunch.

Throwing a few goodies in the basket, like these starfish, crab, angelfish and beach ball cookies (available in the shoppe with the collections, but baked and shipped from our partners at Sweet Tooth Cottage), innertube donuts, raft sugar wafers and embellished cupcakes.

Inviting a few good friends.

Heading out.

And having a blast!

You can find the Splash Bash and Deep Blue Sea collections, including this fun crab monogram on a t-shirt from our partners at Sew Jewell, in the shoppe. {You can convo Sew Jewell directly on Etsy if you’re interested in the towels.}

splash bash fun food

Looking for party food ideas? Well, you’ve come to the right blog. Food doesn’t have to be complicated to be fun and yummy! For your next pool party serve these “inner tubes!” {snicker} They’ll go over well with guests.

And I wasn’t sure the “rafts” (aka sugar wafers) were going to make our pool party. I actually was probably the worst culprit. They remind me of my childhood and I kept thinking, one more won’t matter. My thighs may feel differently, but they were yummy and perfect for a pool party snack!

good ole water balloon fight

Who doesn’t love a water balloon fight?! And it makes a great party game for a pool party or summer gathering!

When styling our new Splash Bash collection and additions to our Deep Blue Sea collection, my sons got into a huge water balloon fight in our front yard with the neighbor kids (okay… and my husband) and so we said why not have one at the party shoot too. It gets the kids giggling and makes for a great time.

These are a few of my favorite shots that Angie of Angie Arthur Photography captured!

Gathering ammo.

Catching some air!

The war face. I LOVE this one. These two are brother and sister. Can you tell?!

More intensity. These kids meant business!

The bounce. Some of the water balloons just refused to burst. You can see the one in midair that just bounced right off her side. Trust me, it wasn’t because he wasn’t throwing hard!

And when all the balloons were gone, there was “the drench.” I just love how Angie captured the water in this one!

In the end, cookies, from our partners at Sweet Tooth Cottage, and cupcakes embellished with our crab and SPLASH cupcake picks, brought them all back together. It’s funny how sugar can do that! {wink}

deep blue sea & beach cookies

Today I’m sharing just a small peek into our Splash Bash and Deep Blue Sea party collections shoot from late June. My sweet and super talented friend Angie Arthur of Angie Arthur Photography captured the day and all the fun that came with it!

I have tons to share, but I thought I would kick the week off with the custom butter cookies from our partners at Sweet Tooth Cottage. You’ll notice our crazy crab, fish and starfish (he was so simple, but so pretty!)  from the Deep Blue Sea collection and the beach ball from our new Splash Bash collection.

All of these will be in the shoppe later this week. Happy Monday everyone and as always, I hope you’re inspired!

pool party invitation & decor

We shot our new Splash Bash collection last Tuesday at a local splash pad (free water park with huge sprinklers, water guns and bucket water falls). We had eight models ranging in age from 4 to 12 (because let’s face it, there is no age limit on water fun), over 100 water balloons, lots of snacks, and some creative DIY ideas. All of which I can’t wait to share in a week or so.

And the fabulous thing about this collection is that it doesn’t have to be a birthday party to celebrate summer. We designed printables perfect for a picnic or a playdate. And what’s more, with indoor water park destinations like  Great Wolf Lodge (indoor water park list by state), it doesn’t even have to be summer outside!

Stay tuned for tons of details, but until then, visit the shoppe for the invitation and thank you notes to start your planning!

As always, I hope you’re inspired!
