Decorating Easter Eggs With Paint Pens

Are you decorating Easter eggs yet? Have you tried paint pens?

Decorating Easter Eggs with

I fell in love with these pens last year at SNAP. I started out with silver, then I picked up gold and aqua and white… they’re just too much fun and the colors always pop. On a side note, they work great for class projects. My sons have ran a few of them dry.

But this is all about the egg.

No template, just scribbling, but it’s lots of fun, super easy and the kiddos can get involved.

Easy DIY Easter Egg Balloons

These amazing Easter egg balloons from Balloon Time and Studio DIY are just darling. So simple and creative. I’m in love! So when Balloon Time asked if I wanted to share, it was an easy yes! ;)

Easy DIY Easter Egg Balloons from Balloon Time

Here’s what you’ll need to make this easy DIY Easter Egg Balloon Craft:

  • 9” or 11” Latex Balloons
  • Balloon Time Helium Tank
  • Acrylic or Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • String, Ribbon or Twine
  • Clear Shipping Tape

Easy instructions:

  1. Inflate balloons using your Balloon Time Helium Tank and temporarily tie a loose knot to the tail so they don’t slip away.
  2. Flip your balloon over so it looks like an egg shape, and use your paintbrush and acrylic paint to paint your favorite Easter egg designs on them. Use enough paint to get even coverage, without it being too thick. (You don’t want to weigh down your balloon.) Then let dry.
  3. Once dry, carefully untie the string from the tail and use a small piece of shipping tape to adhere the string to the “top” of the balloon, which will now become the bottom. Done! Tip: Do not try to remove the tape once it is on there or the balloon might pop.

My Office Remodel & My First Must-Have

I’m remodeling my office and I still have a bit to go, but I wanted to share my first must-have, an electric hanging fireplace from Oh yes! Oh my! This southern girl is going to win the war (at least inside my house) against old man winter!

Home Office Remodel

Have I told you… I know I have. I strongly, emphatically, dislike January through mid-April in Ohio. I don’t mind the snow when it’s 28 degrees and you can play in it. But when the windchill is -28, as it was much this winter… I’m dreaming of hot chocolate and warming my toes near the fire. So one of my first choices when remodeling my office was just that. I decided to get a wall mount fireplace to keep me from freezing when I hit the office in the early morning hours.

I was planning this DIY on my on and I have to be honest, I was a little nervous. My hubby is amazing at installing things, painting things, helping with things… but he is also an incredibly busy guy and so when I was searching for just the right fireplace, I needed it to be something that I could manage.

Which meant I needed to buy it from somewhere that had good descriptions, great customer service for all my questions, and would deliver it right to my house. had me covered! On each product page, there are different sections with PDF instructions, installation videos, Q&A, reviews, and product specialist contact information help. They want to make sure your project goes as smoothly as possible and they mean it! And what’s more, the delivery man in his huge 18-wheel truck in my little neighborhood was even nice. {wink}

And since the house thermostat is located in my office, I decided to upgrade us to a new programmable thermostat so I didn’t end up warm and toasty and freezing the rest of my family. Yep… It would have happened!

What’s best about the thermostat is that you can operate it with your cell. Not that I’m lazy or anything {rolling eyes}, but the fireplace has a remote and the thermostat can be operated from my cell. Let me paint the picture. Me, early in the morning, with a blanket on my lap, fireplace on, two remotes… Oh… and a cup of hot coffee. It’s a bit of heaven and I’m super productive! {wink}

So for us ladies looking to tackle DIY home projects on our own, I highly recommend They’ll walk you through it all and with the videos, if you need to go through it again you have a constant resource. Plus, you can just call them!

The talented ladies, Valerie and Jen of Charming Touch Parties, hosted this beautiful gathering for a special Mom-To-Be. Here’s a bit about the day in their words!

The classic “Peter Rabbit” are always a sweet reminder of the beauty of Spring and all it’s miraculous glory. Our “Blossoming With Love” theme seemed a neat way to celebrate a Momma-To-Be in a precious, gender neutral way.

Our dessert table was full of signs of spring.  Fresh flowers set off our dessert table and are complimented by beautiful hand painted cookies by the talented Natasha at NatSweets. Simple powdered doughnuts get dressed up as bunny bums with the help of Roni Sugar Creation’s precious fondant toppers. Adorable cake pops and chococlate covered Oreo’s by Kima’s Konfections look like fresh picked produce.

Our dessert table gets some shabby chic treatment with the addition of LillyPaul Design’s lovely custom fabric fringe bunting. It adds such a sweet touch.  Rosette bunting that says “Spring Blessings” sets the perfect backdrop message for our precious celebration.

Spring is indeed a time of abundant blessings.  We were thrilled to honor the Momma-To-Be in such a precious way.

My Office, My Cricut Explore Air, My New Found Freedom To Create On The Go

Have you heard of the Cricut Explore Air? It’s the newest member of the Cricut family and it’s opened the door to truly being creative on the go. I personally get inspired in the oddest places… like the grocery store… but I also get inspired when I run across a beautiful fabric at my local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store.

In either case, the new Cricut Design Space app for iPad® and the Cricut Explore Air, allow me to design on the go. I can whip out my iPad, which is almost always with me, quickly pull ideas onto a new mat, hit save and finish the project when I get home. No more forgetting that amazing craft idea that popped into your head while buying pineapples. {wink}

Meet Cricut Explore Air with Kim Byers

This is a quick shot of a corner in my office. Doesn’t my Explore fit right in?! I mean, functional and pretty!

What’s different you ask? If you’re familiar with the Cricut Explore, just know it’s the Explore, but better. The Cricut Explore Air™ still precisely cuts a wide variety of materials from paper to iron-on to adhesive vinyl—even thick materials like leather and burlap! But this machine features built-in Bluetooth® for wireless cutting, a dual carriage to cut and write in just one step, and free cloud-based design software for your computer and iPad®. YIPPEE!

Why should you care about the iPad app and wireless? Well, there is always loving not having more cords to hide. {grin} But in my opinion, I’m much faster from design, to cut with the iPad app. Let’s face it, we love touching screens over moving mouses, don’t we!

For instance, I whipped this fun “hello” vinyl wall decal up in about 10 minutes. From setting it up, to cutting it out, to using transfer paper to attach it to the wall above one of my craft tables! Yep… 10 minutes! (Make this HELLO wall decal now in Cricut Design Space!)

Can I start on my iPad and finish on my computer? Absolutely! The easy-to-use Cricut Design Space software system gives you access to all of your images and projects from any compatible computer or iPad®. It’s cloud-based, so your projects are always synced across all your devices.

Do I really design and set up projects on the go? I do, I truly do. If your family is anything like mine, you’re always on the go. I personally have two boys and we stay in sports almost all year round. Admittedly I love watching them play sports so it’s not as painful as it sounds, but there is a lot of down time at practice. Now, with the new iPad app and my Cricut Explore Air, I can design my next project while away from home and cut, write, score and print when I get back home. I feel productive and I don’t miss a moment of my boys!

I’ll be creating some really fun projects with my Cricut Explore Air over the next few weeks and showing you just how easy it is.

Cricut Explore AirI’ll also be hosting a few fun giveaways so make sure you stick around. I’d love to put a Cricut Explore Air in your hands!

Or, you can hop over to your local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and pick one up along with Cricut vinyl, pens, iron-on goodies and more!

Easter Snack Station – Treats, Egg Carton Backdrop & Gable Box Favor Craft

Easter is a really BIG DEAL for our household. Hi there! It’s Christina of Something Chic.

Easter Snack Station with Something Chic

Having a “traditional” Easter Sunday is always top of our yearly holiday list. One creative tradition that stays is our “Easter Snack Station” which was the biggest inspiration for our party decor this year. From early Easter morning breakfast, to our family dinner later in the day, each Easter element is enhanced by our Snack Station’s wowing visual appeal and tasty snacks.

Easter Snack Station with Something Chic

Design details include a collaboration of classic + chic. I’d say starting with the backdrop the chic vibe takes place. I took bakery size egg cartons that I have been collecting for a while and strung them together creating a full 6’x7′ portrait tall backdrop. The natural egg carton color worked lovely with the white ruffle table cloth giving the snack table a chic look. Of course the accent color palette ties in the classic Easter feel (light blue, green, and yellow). The classic colors really stand out because of the neutral tones surrounding the featured items.

So, you want to know the inside scoop behind the design accessories and props? Oh yes! Well first I must mention that I always get to work with the most amazing vendors – which makes my styling extremely easy! Starting with the paper accessories, Paper Acorn provided the fun banner, cupcake toppers and custom “Easter Snack Station” sign. Again, the color selection is key to how well the items complement each other. For example, the cupcake toppers work perfectly with the Carrot Cake cupcakes by Abby Girl Cupcakery. Notice the intricate detail of the icing + pecan then the yellow topper. This allows each detail to really stand out and is the same for the fun Lemon Poppy Seed cookies I ordered from the Bonbonerie bakery.

Next up are the fab goodies found at the TomKat Studio. I strategically selected dishes and props which add the wow factor to the table. Check out the wooden creates and shelf. Then paired with the Jadeite Milk Glass pedestal cake stands with a touch of the white makes a lovely display. Let’s not forget the clear drinking cups and bright yellow stripe straws with a white ribbon tied to each straw and a flower sticker added for a little accent. Trust me these cups are always a big hit!

A few more of my favorite details include custom mini water bottles with bright yellow ribbon and felt stickers I made using items found at Michael’s – really easy DIY. Also, the hurricane (a Container Store find) held our shimmery gumball tubes (by TomKat Studio) look so cute after adding a white ribbon, bow tied for extra garnish. I can’t forget how cool French Macarons are in the dozen egg cartons with a little candy accent!

I adore working with gable boxes. They are great for any occasion and they are easy to customize/transition from one project to the next. If you order in bulk I promise you will use them. So here we go…

  1. Take any size gable box (shown is the large white style)
  2. Using stickers of your choice apply the stickers to designated areas creating a scene (shown are felt stickers found at Michael’s)
  3. Garnish the top handle of the box with a satin coordinating ribbon
